Caring for a loved one can be immensely rewarding but it can also put a strain on family relationships leaving the Carer feeling isolated and tired. Carers also experience worse health than the general public. A YouGov poll last year showed that carers providing 50 hours or more a week of care are more than twice as likely to be in bad health as non-carers. More than 6.5 million people in the UK are currently providing care for an older, disabled or seriously ill loved one and this has been estimated to be worth £132 billion a year.
Carers Choices is a local charity covering South Essex providing support for those that care for their loved ones. This includes both adult and young carers.
Come along to the Open Afternoon to learn more about the support that is available to Carers including the possibility of funding to cover the costs of care.
